A genetic test reads part of your DNA to find changes that cause a health condition or raise the risk of one.
It can confirm a diagnosis, show whether you carry a condition you could pass on to your children, or guide cancer treatment. Most tests need only a blood or saliva sample.

Is Accuracy Plus an accredited laboratory?
Yes. Accuracy Plus Medical Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and by the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) to ISO 15189.

Accuracy Plus works in partnership with leading international genetics laboratories, including CeGaT in Germany and GeneDx in the United States.

How much does genetic testing cost in Abu Dhabi?
The cost depends on the test. A single-gene test costs far less than whole genome sequencing.
We confirm the exact price before any sample is taken. Message us with the test name or your doctor's request for a quote.
Do I need a doctor's referral for a genetic test?
For most tests, no. You can book directly with Accuracy Plus.
Some tests, such as tumour profiling, need a request from your treating doctor. We will tell you before you book.
How long do genetic test results take?
NIPT results take about 5 to 7 days. Carrier screening and hereditary cancer panels take about 2 to 4 weeks, and whole exome or genome sequencing about 4 to 8 weeks.
We give you the expected date when your sample is collected.
What is NIPT and when can I have it?
Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) analyses fragments of your baby's DNA in your blood to screen for chromosome conditions such as Down syndrome (trisomy 21). It can be done from 10 weeks of pregnancy.
NIPT is a screening test, so a high-risk result is confirmed with a diagnostic test before any decision is made.
What is the difference between whole exome and whole genome sequencing?
Whole exome sequencing reads the protein-coding regions of your genes, about 1 to 2 percent of your DNA, where most known disease-causing variants are found.
Whole genome sequencing reads almost all 3 billion base pairs and can also find larger structural changes and variants outside genes. Your doctor will advise which one fits your case.
Is genetic testing mandatory before marriage in the UAE?
For Emirati citizens, yes. Genetic testing has been part of mandatory premarital screening since January 2025.
For other residents it is optional. Expanded carrier screening is available to any couple at Accuracy Plus.
Can you collect my sample at home?
Yes. Our team collects samples at homes and workplaces across the UAE. Book a slot by WhatsApp or phone.
Is my genetic information kept confidential?
Yes. Your results are shared only with you and the doctors you authorise, and your sample is used only for the test you consented to.
Does insurance cover genetic testing?
It depends on your plan and the medical reason for the test. We can check with your insurer before you book.
